6. Running, Jumping, Hanging

It won't stop, it won't stop, it won’t...
Every fifth step another hope dies in politics.
Insecure, padded minds, triple-locked tight.
Bathed in flood lights and motion sensors,
paranoia's turned over, it runs through veins,
arson misfires burn the synapses.
One and all hold our phantoms close.
Old burials paved over and paid off.
It won't stop, it won't stop, it will never stop.

But once we get a handle on our debt
we'll find a way to pay for it, I swear.
Once we get a hand on our welfare
we'll find a way to fuck it up, we will!

But I just can't, I just can't,
I just can't turn it off,
but why? Really what is there to ever want?

It keeps on, and keeps on and keeps on...
another cover-up for political correctness (PC is BS),
not more than bandages to hide a culture’s ignorance.
A new religion: a showcase for broadcasted righteousness.
A new science for a watered down, water-cooler wisdom.
Every fifth step a breath of sanity choked out by holy men.
Common sense paid out as novelty at best.
A double layer of concrete is freshly poured on.
And it keeps on, and keeps on... and keeps on.

But once we get a handle on our debt
we'll find a way to double it, I swear.
Once we get a hand on our disease
we'll find a way beyond it, we will!

But I just can’t, I just can’t,
I just can’t turn it off;
and now, now you're gonna have to watch.

This is the end, the end, the end and the way it is!
This is the day we’ve been living for.
Watch it crash down on our heads now
over cold heroes and faiths of old.
This country hasn’t stood to give chance.
Society hasn’t given more than a prayer.
This is all going under!

You know we’re really not so important.
We're all just trying to remain relevant...

I just can't, because I'm not a good person yet.
I just can't, because I'm not a good enough man.
